Nu-Way Restaurant & Lounge

Simply titled Yonder, this is a text-based mural created for the award-winning Nu-Way Restaurant & Lounge in Spartanburg, SC. While developing designs for the mural, we were interested in the powerful tool of storytelling and the mythical nature of narrative found throughout both historical and contemporary southern culture. Working with lyrics from the classic Christian hymnal, Amazing Grace, and a playful example of southern vernacular, we fused these two together to create an original phrase that promotes a lighthearted atmosphere on the outdoor patio of this restaurant and lounge. This program is funded in part by The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg, its donors, the County and City of Spartanburg and the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC, The Valet, Livin' Life Man, and the Nu-Way Restaurant and Lounge. We worked closely side by side with local artist Aimee Wise throughout the design and execution of this project.
